Bishop Philip is the first Anglican Bishop in Taranaki having been consecrated bishop in 1999. Prior to that, he was Warden of Selwyn College, at the University of Otago. Up until that appointment he was in parish ministry in Auckland, Northland and Otago and community development work in Auckland City. Nationally he has chaired Te Kotahitanga, the Anglican Church‘s Commission responsible for theological education and ministry training in New Zealand and Polynesia and is a trustee of the Anglican Church Pension Board. Bishop Philip is married to Belinda Holmes and they have two children, Joshua and Clare.
