E te whānau a Te Karaiti, tēnā koutou,

He karere pōuri tēnei. Kua mate a te Ātirikona a Tikitūterangi (Tiki) Raumati NZOM i tēnei ata tonu, kei tōna kainga i Taranaki, kei waenganui i tōna whānau.

He tino tangata a Tiki i tōna wā. He tino rangatira, he tino minita mō te haahi me te iwi. E moe i tō moenga roa.

It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of The Venerable Tikitūterangi (Tiki) Raumati NZOM. He passed away this morning at his home after a short illness. He was among his whānau when he passed.

Archdeacon Tiki was a giant within Te Haahi Mihinare, and Te Pihopatanga. He was one of our great ministers and kaumatua leaders, having served in ordained ministry since 1965. A proud member of Ngāti Mutunga and Te Atiawa, Archdeacon Tiki was kaumatua for St Mary’s Cathedral in Taranaki, patron to countless community initiatives, and kaitautoko to whānau and hapū throughout Taranaki and beyond.

His passionate commitment to gospel and people will be his unique legacy. His challenge to us was to form a future together by a genuine reconciling of our past, and that is a work that we must continue.

Our aroha and deepest sympathies are with his wife Wilma, and their children and mokopuna.

Archdeacon Raumati will lie at Urenui Marae from late tomorrow afternoon (Friday 31st August), and his funeral service will be held in St Joseph's Catholic Church, 106 Powderham Street, New Plymouth at 1:30pm on Monday, September 3.

May he rest in peace, and rise in glory.
